Queen Latifah is a Maverick

Thanks to a certain Homosexual for posting the SNL clip parodying the VP debate. I was attending a late night book burning down here in Dixie and missed last Saturday's episode. I know it's somewhat taboo for a white man to be with a colored woman, but does anyone else think Queen Latifah is all that and a bag of chips? I watched every season of Living Single growing up and loved her short-lived talk-show. I still haven't seen Set It Off or any of her lesser films (save Beauty Shop), but I think I've seen enough of her to consider myself a fan. I wonder if she has a fan club.

And even with breast reduction surgery, Queenie, you'll always be my BBW.

Mike, you never fail to surprise me.

As for Queen Latifah movies, Set It Off is great! She's big lesbian bank robber, and you can't help but root for her. Her musicals are great too: Hairspray and Chicago. (Playing lesbian again in the latter.) And I think Bringing Down the House (with Steve Martin) was skewered by the critics, but it made me laugh, especially when she kicked that white woman's ass.

How about the fact that she's a big girl and still sexy as hell? Unfortunately, black women seem to be the only people who can pull it off. Famous white girls, even THIN white girls, get their cellulite put over trash mags all the time. Anyway, we've talked about this, and I know that we both agree that Queenie is awesome.

Damn straight, Queenie is awesome. I don't agree with that double standard, either. Kirsty Alley is sexy, too. People don't say that type of stuff to Mo'nique or any of the plus-sized black chicks. What's up with that?

The media need to stop pigeon-holding women into this image that is only obtainable thru intense starvation and sustainable if you happen to be a 12 year old boy.

Sara Ramirez (sp?) from Grey's Anatomy is a bigger woman and she is super sexy. Renee Zellweger has never looked hotter than she did in Bridget Jones, when she had some meat on her glass bones. Even Marilyn Monroe was a size 12 and she was an undisputable bombshell. So there are a few... just not many boldface names, unfortunately. Queen Latifah pretty much rules.

Renee Zellweger got up into her 140's which in my opinion isn't the type of weight I am talking about. Plus, the magazines actually made fun of her because I remember talking about it with Michael and commenting that I thought she looked better without her back bones poking out. Also, Marilyn Monroe was 5`5 and was between 135-145 lbs. Yeah, she was curvy, as her measurements were 35-22-35, but she sure doesn't have weight like my Queenie. I recall looking through a special edition Playboy magazine that Michael and I bought a few years back that showed a cartoon of Marilyn in a dress all fat looking and the caption said, "I don't have a body" or something like that. So hey, people DID say she was fat, too. Also, a size 12 back in the day isn't the same as a size 12 in this day in age. 22 inch waist? Come on. I looked up Sara Ramirez, and she doesn't really look "big." I mean, she may look "bigger" than let's say, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, but I wouldn't describe her as a big girl.

Big by "real" standards? No, I agree with you there. Big by Hollywood standards? There's no question that they are. But to each her own opinion, I suppose. At least we can agree that Queen Latifah is the bomb :)

(As for MM's dress size, apparel experts estimate she would be a size 12 in today's terms. I have no idea what size that equates to in her own day. A 16 perhaps? Regardless, I think she looked great)

Yes, I am talking about big by real standards, not Hollywood standards. They always try to make Kate Winslet out like she is full figured, when she is a size 4. Even she thinks it's crazy. And whatever the experts say, I still don't see how 35-22-35 is a size 12.

Here's a modern day size 16 which is only one size up from a 12: http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/04_01/missenglandSplitb_468x396.jpg

Anyway, I'll stop now.
